The Best Doughnuts
Ingredients:
2 cups Flour
3 tbsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/3 stick Butter (Melted)
1 packet Yeast
Glaze:
2 cups Powdered Sugar
2/3 stick Butter
3-5 tbsp milk (Depending on how thick you like your glaze.)
1 tsp Vanilla
Preparation:
You can use a mixer to do this or by hand.
Mix dry ingredients into a bowl, mix wet ingredients in another bowl.
Combine and mix into a sticky dough. Do not add to much flour.
Knead with machine or with oil on your hands and counter for 15 min.
Let Rise till double in volume, around 1 1/2 hours.
Flour dough and counter and roll dough out to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut out with doughnut cutter or small and large cookie cutters.
Place on parchment paper on a cookie sheet to rise again for 1/2 hour.
Heat several inches of oil on pan to 325 degrees. (Not to hot or it will brown doughnuts to fast.)
Drain on wire rack and glaze when cool.
